FUZZ KILL

FUZZ KILL

So I am going to be honest, I started to do dermaplaning as a hair removal option as I was not completely satisfied with the others that I had been doing previously (threading and waxing). I quickly realized that not only was it an amazing method of getting rid of all the peach fuzz, but an ultra-effective exfoliating treatment as well!

For the past five years or so, I have opted for this route and it is by far my method of preference.  Dermaplaning is done with a surgical scalpel, that’s why it is super important that the person that preforms this skincare treatment is a well-trained aesthetician, as the tool can do more damage than good if it is not used properly.  During the treatment, your skin is first cleansed and dried, then the aesthetician holds the scalpel at a 45 degree angle swiping the blade in upward movements on the forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, and neck.  I find it to be a painless and relaxing experience. Not only is the hair removed but it acts as an incredibly efficient exfoliating treatment as it removes the first layer of the skin. The skin needs to be exfoliated periodically in order to remove all of the dead cells. If the dead skin cells are not removed from the surface, your skin can begin to look dull and lose its glow.  Another benefit is that it diminishes acne scars, provides a more even tone for the skin resulting in makeup looking better as well! All of the wonderful topical products such as toners, serums, and moisturizers are better absorbed and work best when the skin is exfoliated and hair free.

After the dermaplaning process I like to get a facial as well.  Since the skin is exfoliated anything that is put in the skin after, will be better absorbed and have better results.  It is also super important that after these treatments your brushes are clean as your skin will be absorbing everything that you put on it.

Dermaplaning is typically safe for all skin types except those suffering with inflamed acne.  Will your hair grow back? Definitely! (But not darker or thicker)  Expect for this to last around 30 days, although it can be more or less depending on each person.  I like to do dermaplaning every 3 months, just because I do other skin treatments in between.

Happy smooth, peach fuzz free skin!
