Lately, I have been seeing a lot about collagen. Collagen protein, water, capsules, bone broth etc.  So what is it and why is it so important to supplement on it?  Our bodies largest organ is the skin, and 70% of our skin’s protein is made up by collagen.  By our 20’s the collagen in our body begins to decrease, causing the sagging and wrinkles in our skin.  Factors in our environment such as pollution, toxins, and smoking among others affect the collagen in our bodies.  Not only is it important for our skin, but for our hair, nails, and joints.


My favorite way to supplement on collagen is Bulletproof Collagen Protein.  It’s pretty much tasteless, doesn’t lump, and can be added to anything you like since it doesn’t alter the taste at all.  I use one scoop daily in my morning smoothie, but it can be added to coffee, soups, or sauces just to give you a few examples.  I love how light and easily it dissolves into anything.  There are many options on collagen supplementation but the reason a like that Bulletproof brand is due to the high quality of their products.


This is my favorite beauty boosting smoothie recipe packed with protein and antioxidants!

1 cup of coconut water  (make sure its 100% coconut water with no added junk)

1 scoop of Bulletproof Collagen Protein

1 scoop Nutrasumma Unflavored Pea Protein

1/2 cup pineapple and strawberry chunks

½ banana


Put it all in the Nutribullet or blender and enjoy!
