I am a huge supporter of eating for beauty!  When I discovered Carla Oates, yes we even have the same name! (well, mine is with a K), the Beauty Chef, I was really curious on her products and what she had to say.  Her business is built on the fact that the gut has to be healthy in order for our skin to be healthy too – and let me say I couldn’t agree more.

Why are probiotics so important for our health?

Probiotics are friendly bacteria that help balance the good and bad bacteria, helping our immune system to be strong.  When our gut is off balance, and there is more bad bacteria than good bacteria, problems such as acne, skin problems, or even chronic inflammation arise, just to name a few. That’s why it’s so important to include gut-friendly foods such as kefir, kimchi, and kombucha.  Sometimes these probiotic friendly foods are hard to incorporate in a daily diet due to their peculiar taste.  Another way of balancing these bacteria’s is through supplements, such as probiotics or the product I tested out:  The Advanced Glow Inner Beauty Powder – this advanced formula has a bio-fermented blend that includes a minimum of 500 million probiotics per serving. The product supports gut health, promotes healthy skin, boosts collagen, supports skin function, and feeds your microbiome.

How do I take it?                                                                                                                                                                                               

The taste was not bad, tastes like berries, the only downside for me is that it contains stevia which I am not a huge fan of.  I find the taste of stevia to be too strong.  It is recommended to enjoy 1 teaspoon daily mixed with your beverage of choice, in a smoothie, or in yogurt.  I mixed 1 teaspoon with greek yogurt and topped it with berries, bananas, and coconut chips.

The Result

I think it is a wonderful product given the ingredients, but I personally did not feel a drastic change because before I was already taking a probiotic.  I think that if I had not been taking a probiotic on a regular basis, I would have definitely noticed a significant change. Even though I did not notice any difference, I do recommend it.  I think it’s a good way to incorporate your probiotics in your daily regime if you are not taking them or if you do not like to take them in a capsule form.  It’s definitely a product I will continue to use interchangeably with my capsule probiotic!
