We’ve all seen the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask blowing up on our Instagram feed and it’s known to be one of the best products in the oh-so-popular Korean Beauty category. So, I decided to put it to the test for you beauty lovers. I have combination skin, with an oily T-zone but am always looking for the new product that’s going to give me that extra boost of hydration. This mask claims to give a glow while you sleep. Well, as silly as it sounds, just the name sold me.
The instructions on this product are very specific so that you don’t go wrong and turn the mask into a product that could peel. Therefore, it’s the LAST step you do at night after your normal skincare routine. It would go on after your serum, night cream, eye cream, spot cream, etc. It is NOT made to replace any of your night creams and its very important you pat on instead of rub, if not, it will peel. The Glow Recipe is formulated with:
Watermelon extract for soothing the skin and is also full of antioxidants
Hyaluronic acid which is great for hydrating and plumping the skin
AHAs known to smooth the skin by getting rid of dead skin cells
It claims to give smoother and more radiant skin in the morning while still helping with oily skin. My first impression was that it smelt very strong, exactly like the watermelon Jolly Rancher, but the smell subsides after some time. The texture is jelly-like and cooling so it does feel calming on the skin.
I have to be honest, I was excited to see my skin after the first night of wearing it, and I was not very impressed. It claims to do such wonderful things and has such great reviews but my skin actually felt less hydrated oddly enough. I did notice I had a nice glow but right after washing the mask off, my skin felt a bit tight and was craving some of my normal moisturizer. I tried it out quite a few times before writing this review because I really wanted to love it, but I will not be repurchasing. Maybe you guys will have better luck with this product than I did!
