My Thoughts on Tarte’s Vegan & Cruelty Free Hydrating Shape Tape Foundation

My Thoughts on Tarte’s Vegan & Cruelty Free Hydrating Shape Tape Foundation

Most of us super obsessed beauty lovers have heard about Tarte’s notorious “Shape Tape Contour Concealer” which is definitely one of the BEST. Therefore, I was SO excited earlier this year when Tarte launched its counterpart – the Shape Tape Foundation in both a hydrating and a matte formula. The beauty of this Shape Tape Foundation is that it’s hypoallergenic (very unlikely to cause an allergic reaction), promises to last for 12 hours, and is both oil free and cruelty free. It is also formulated with collagen and hyaluronic acid to keep the skin nice and plump.

I have combination skin with an oily T- zone so I choose to buy the Shape Tape Hydrating formula in color “Medium Sand” because I love a dewy look on my skin, always. As soon as I applied the foundation I found that’s it’s a medium coverage foundation but it is buildable. Since I like a full-coverage look I had to apply quite a bit of product. I have to say, I was a little disappointed about the medium coverage because the Shape Tape under eye concealer is so full coverage and beautiful. The Hydrating Foundation formula has a nice dewy and radiant finish. The glow was on the intense side so I went back in after applying to my t-zone and applied a finishing powder. The packaging isn’t my favorite thing; it comes with a very large sponge tip similar to the concealer for application, I tend to always prefer a pump for foundation. Overall, I like this foundation for the day-time because it keeps my skin looking and feeling very healthy but for my liking the coverage is very minimal

What I didn’t love:

  • They have a small color selection so it was a bit hard finding my perfect color.

  • The coverage wasn’t as intense as I expected it to be.

  • I found that it transfers quite easily if you accidentally touch your face.

What I do love:

  • What it’s formulated with

  • I love that it’s good for your skin in the sense that it has collagen and hyaluronic acid. It’s nice to have a foundation that’s good for your skin since I do tend to like heavy foundations and sometimes those tend to cause breakouts.

  • The glowing finish it leaves on my skin.
