There are so many products in the market, but few that truly make a life-changing impact to my makeup routine. For me, an eyeshadow primer is the peanut butter to my jelly. Living in Arizona and having combination skin has been extremely challenging, especially in the dreadful, hot, summer months. Without the primer, my eyeliner would always smudge! It took years for me to figure out that what I needed was an eye primer! I tried out a few, and this is what I found.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer –
Just a little bit of this magic potion needs to be applied on your lids, with your finger or with a brush. It promises 24 hours of wear, and keeps your eyeshadow crease-free while making your color more vibrant. The formula is creamy and nude, and applies easily onto the lid doing the trick! I liked it, but found the formula to be a bit on the heavier side.
Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer –
This little tube is said to act like glue to lock on shadow – and is sweat and humidity-resistant! Making it perfect for the summer months or vacation on the beach! As always, I don’t believe all of the promises and have to put the product to the test. I found that the formula is a bit creamy (I prefer a lighter base) but my eyeshadow didn’t clump and my liner stayed put all day!
Nars Pro-Prime Smudge-proof Eyeshadow Base –
The makeup gods have answered, this one was definitely the winner for me! I love how light and colorless the product is. I glide it on my eyes with my finger and then apply my eyeshadow and liner. Finally, I was able to keep my eye makeup perfectly in place from morning to night without looking like a raccoon midday. Say goodbye to creases and oily lids, this product is by far the best!
