Holiday season is here! And with it, so many sugary treats everywhere we go. Sugar is not only bad for the waistline, but for our skin as well. The inflammation that sugar causes in the body produces enzymes that break down elastin and collagen. And what exactly does this do you ask? Well, it causes sagging and wrinkles in our skin! (yeah, no thanks) I am not saying to deprive ourselves, but I am all for making wiser choices that won’t affect my health… or add wrinkles.
Here is my favorite Hot Chocolate Recipe:
1 cup of full fat coconut milk
1 tablespoon of raw cacao
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon of turmeric
1 date to sweeten
I like to use full fat coconut milk. Besides making the drink deliciously creamy, satisfying, and rich, the full fat coconut milk falls in the good fats category. Not only do these friendly fats keep you full for a longer period of time, but they also keep your skin and hair shiny and healthy.
Raw cacao (with no sugar of course) is packed with antioxidants and, also the beauty mineral known as sulfur. This beauty boosting mineral is known to keep our hair, nails, and skin in tip top shape.
Both cinnamon and turmeric contain anti-aging properties!
Merry Christmas to all!
