Not only is avocado making a craze on every restaurant menu across America, but in skin care as well! This friendly fat is not only good for our skin by consuming it, but also in our skin care. As the avocado lover that I am, I had to try Glow Recipe’s newest launch, the Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask. It arrived just in time, as Arizona hadn’t been this cold in 4 years! With the cold weather, and that we had to turn on our heaters this year, my skin was feeling a little dull and dry.
Avocado- Helps deliver moisture and support natural collagen.
Manuka Honey – Delivers antioxidants and soothing properties to refresh stressed out skin.
PHA- Delivers a mild and gentle exfoliation while you snooze.
Kaolin Clay – Pulls impurities from the skin without causing redness or irritation; absorbs excess oils, decongests pores, and controls shine. Love this stuff! I’m sure this is why my skin didn’t get greasy or shiny.
How to use it?
I decided to try the mask both ways it is recommended on the bottle, and this is what I found. First, I tried it just as a regular mask. I applied a generous amount onto my clean skin and left it on for 10 minutes. I found the scent to be fine and I liked the texture of the mask, it didn’t feel too heavy, greasy, or thick. After washing off the mask, I really didn’t notice much of a difference on my skin. It felt somewhat moisturized, but honestly just applying my regular moisturizer is best for my skin.
After a couple of days, I tried it as a sleeping mask. After I did my whole skin care regime in the evening, I saved the mask as the last step as the directions said. I applied a dime size amount onto my face avoiding the eye area. Because it’s only a small amount that you are supposed to apply, it didn’t feel too heavy and penetrated well into my skin. I liked that it stayed on my skin, and didn’t end up on my pillowcase. The next day I washed my face, and my skin felt softer and moisturized. I didn’t feel that it was firming, but I did like that I felt moisturized without feeling oily. Another plus is that I didn’t breakout. I would definitely use it again as a sleeping mask.
Did I love it?
I liked it, but I did not love it. I don’t think I would repurchase this product again. I find that adding a couple of drops of oil to my moisturizer does the trick to keep my skin moisturized during the dry and cold months.
